What We Teach

At Frances Bleasdale’s we have always believed in the importance of developing a sound technique. Dance and performance skills are best developed when a school follows an approved syllabus of examinations.

We have a wide range of children’s classes in ISTD* Cecchetti Ballet, ISTD Tap and Modern Theatre Dance.

Children’s examinations go from Pre-Primary to Grade 6.

Our senior students study the ISTD Vocational Graded syllabi from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2 and Final Cecchetti Diploma.

The ISTD syllabi are CDET** and RQF*** approved and have set levels on the Regulated Qualifications Framework for Examinations. We are an ISTD examinations board provincial centre, so children do not have to travel to an unfamiliar studio for their examinations.

Our children's examinations record speaks for itself – 100% pass rate, almost all with Merit or Distinction.

We also teach Children's Street Dance and Aerial Hoop classes.

Teacher Training for Cecchetti Ballet available at DDE, Licentiate and Fellowship levels . We are an ISTD Approved Dance Centre for Teacher Training.

Enrico Cecchetti was the ballet master of the famous Ballets Russes and was the founder of this method of ballet training, which is based on a sound understanding of the dancer’s physique. The Cecchetti method is a systematic build up of exercises to develop strength and virtuosity.

The Imperial Society of  Teachers of Dancing was founded in 1904 and is the world’s leading dance examinations board. It is today a registered educational charity and is the only organisation that covers the full spectrum of dance examinations on a truly global scale.
